Delete it in the app
The quickest way, which takes effect straight away:
- Open the Lift app or the Lift Driver app and sign in.
- Tap the Account icon (the person outline) at the top of the home screen.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Enter your password and tap Delete account again to confirm.
You'll be signed out, and nobody can sign in to the account again.
Ask us to delete it
If you've uninstalled the app, can't sign in, or would rather we did it for you, email us from the email address on your Lift account:
Email support@prismtech.online
Tell us which app the account is on (Lift or Lift Driver) and the name and phone number on it. If you write from a different address, we may ask you to prove the account is yours first, so we don't delete someone else's. We'll email you when it's done.
What gets deleted
- Your name, email address and phone number. They're replaced with a placeholder, and your email address can be used for a new account.
- Your password. Your account can't be signed in to again.
- Rider identity verification: your ID number, ID photo and selfie.
What we keep, and for how long
- Past rides stay in the other person's trip history (the driver's or the rider's), with you shown as "Deleted User". They no longer carry your name or contact details.
- Financial records of rides, payments, refunds and driver payouts (amounts, dates and payment references) are kept for up to five years, as South Africa's Tax Administration Act requires.
- Records tied to an open dispute, safety report or legal claim are kept until it's resolved.
- Photos from a verification Lift withdrew (for example, because the ID wasn't yours) may be kept as a record of that safety or fraud investigation.
Lift never stores your full card number. Card and EFT payments are handled by Paystack and PayFast, which keep their own records under their own privacy policies.
For more detail, see section 9 of our Privacy Policy.
